What is ACTIVATE?
ACTIVATE is a year long course predominately aimed at leaders, especially those who are still unsure about future directions but are keen to do some youth & childrens’ work as well as get a foundational handle on Christian Ministry and Theology. . It is also a great start for people who want to begin a life long learning pathway. It's our hope that this course will activate in them their God given purpose as well as a real heart for ministry/mission

ACTIVATE for me has been a great experience that has not only helped me understand the Bible and our culture today but has helped me interract with other students both online and in class time at student networking.
The course units are interesting and applicable to the ministry that I am working in and also helps me with my own journey and relationship with God.
I've particularly found the Hearing the voice of culture unit particularly helpful in my ministry with youth.

I was looking for a practical course of study that would both equip me personally and also give me a qualification that helps my position as a youth pastor. I started the course with a young youth leader in my church and by doing the course together we have enjoyed a level of fellowship and growth together that one prays regularly for. After being a christian and reading my bible for 25 years the ACTIVATE course, whilst being practical and relevant to daily ministry has also filled in some biblical and historical details that are refreshingly new to me. As an older youth pastor I would recommend doing this course if you have missed formal qualifications in your journey to your current ministry position. I also strongly recommend ACTIVATE for youth leaders within a youth ministry that are looking to grow and become strong servants of Christ.

I have found it to be a challenge in my faith and an encouragement in taking extra time to focus myself on some of the finer points of Gods Word and also my relationship with Him.
It has been great to spend time coming under solid men and women of God to learn and be stretched by their experiences and also their knowledge and interpretation of Gods word.
Students doing ACTIVATE will be working in a ministry setting and will study nine units over the year. Three of them will be electives. Upon completion, they will receive a Certificate 4 in Christian Ministry and Theology through ACOM which will go towards any future study. It can be done for audit and it can be done part time.
The learning model is on the job training, competency based and most of the study is done online through ACOM's e-learning framework called Janison. Students will be able to do their readings, listen to podcasts and watch videos via youtube. There will also be online forums where students can interact around the subjects they are studying.
Here is a list of great things about ACTIVATE
- Its accessibility to regional WA. It can be done completely remotely.
- It’s one year towards a 2 year Diploma
- Flexible on the job training centred around the practical mission and the program of your church
- Multiple delivery methods but mostly based online
- Government Traineeships will be available if a student is a new employee of a church (within 3 months) and is being remunerated at a minimum of $11 000 there is a government grant of up to $4 500 that can go towards their salary and also $2 500 for the Trainee’s studies.
- YVWA hope to offer at least 3x$1000.00 scholarships for 2010 (now allocated)
- Kids Vision will be offering 6x$1500.00 scholarships for 2010
- Youth and Children’s stream
- ACTIVATE costs $2 250 which makes it probably the most accessible Cert 4 of it kind in the country (TBA)
